Winter School for Digital Medievalists

DiPText-KC is pleased to announce the Call for Applications for the 3rd HTR Winter School organized by the Institute for Medieval Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Austria), the Manuscript, Rare Books and Archival Studies (MARBAS) Initiative of the Princeton University (USA) and the Faculty of Arts of the Comenius University in Bratislava (Slovakia), which will be focused on Handwritten Text Recognition of Medieval Documents and will be held partly on the Zoom platform and partly in Vienna between November and December 2024.

The HTR Winter School 2024 will consist of three Zoom Sessions (08/11/2024 | 22/11/2024 | 06/12/2024) and a 3-day Workshop in Vienna (18-20/12/2024).

The course is primarily designed for Master’s Degree or PhD students, but other applicants will be considered as well.

The course will be taught in English and will be organized into six working groups, each of which will be focused on one of the following languages ​​and scripts: Carolingian Latin, Late Medieval Latin, Byzantine Greek, Medieval Czech, Medieval German and Syriac.

Participation is free of charge, but travel and accommodation to attend the 3-day Workshop in Vienna are at the expense of participants.
